The iPS-derived astrocytes are polarized structures when plated as a monolayer in culture and express astrocyte markers, GFAP and S100beta.

Details

Astrocytes, also known as Astroglia, belong to the family of glial cells in the human central and peripheral nervous system. They have been shown to have central roles in the maintenance of neuronal metabolism and neurotransmitter synthesis. They have been implicated in many human neurodegenerative disorders such as multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer’s disorder, Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Approximate turn-around time: ~5-6 weeks (from fibroblasts) and ~3 weeks (for iPSCs)

Sample requirements: human fibroblasts or iPSCs, ~5x10^5 cells. Please contact us, if you'd prefer to use blood samples

Technology used: an in-house developed proprietary feeder-free, serum-free, viral/genetic-elements-free, integration-free reprogramming method.

Deliverables: >2x10^6 cells (scale-up possible). BioSafety Level 2.
